Ready for Sub-Ohm Vaping?
Posted by
onIf you’ve been vaping for a while and consider yourself an experienced vaper, then you might be looking at sub-ohm vaping as the next step in your experience. But do you really think you’re ready for sub-ohm vaping? Read on to find out.
To understand whether you’re ready, you must first understand what exactly sub-ohm vaping is. To boil it down to the most basic form, sub-ohm vaping is using a device with atomizer coils that have a resistance of less than one ohm. Why? Less resistance means more amperage and heat, resulting in stronger flavor and more vapor. This definition can be expanded as many vapers are using variable voltage and wattage devices. These devices can allow you to use whatever resistance you would like without bypassing the safety capacity of a regular set up. However, low power regulated devices are still definitely the best-suited devices for sub-ohm vaping.
Once you know how sub-ohm vaping works, it might be worthwhile to know exactly why vapers choose this option. Vapers who go sub-ohm usually are lung-hit vapers, meaning they inhale the vapor straight into their lungs. This already increases the amount of vapor they can get per pull, but they strive for more. Sub-ohm vaping is the only way lung-hit vapers can get more vapor, as they have already hit lung capacity. If you inhale that deeply already and still strive for more, then this option is probably good for you.
Another modification suited for sub-ohming lies in the e-liquid. Those who vape like this generally use e-liquids that have a high vegetable glycerin (VG) to propylene glycol (PG) ratio. Though more expensive, VG produces larger and denser vapor clouds, and has a reduced throat hit strength to allow for more vapor to be inhaled per pull.
Because sub-ohming is somewhat bypassing the safety catches of vaporizers and MODs, there are some inherent dangers. Since the resistance is so low, batteries will heat up quite easily. To mediate this, most vapers carefully select hybrid lithium or unprotected IMR batteries due to their safer chemistry.
If you’re an experienced and dedicated vaper, then it’s quite possible sub-ohm vaping is right for you. Though there are some dangers associated with it, this style is highly rewarding as long as you are vigilant. If you keep all of the options in mind, then you’ll find yourself sub-ohm vaping in style.
