Playing the Vape Mix Game

Posted by David on

If you’ve been vaping for a while and you’re tired of having the same old flavors in rotation, it might be time to get into the world of flavor blending. Flavor blending, unlike DIY vaping, doesn’t demand that you know all your vaping chemistry equations and invest in all of that bulky equipment. After all, while making e-liquid from scratch can be a rewarding process, it can also be time-consuming and, quite frankly, messy.

Flavor blending, meanwhile, is an extremely simple and fast way to become the master of your flavor experience. It doesn’t require any use of math or chemistry. It also requires next to no equipment whatsoever. So, what are you waiting for? Time to dream up some tasty e-liquid concoctions!

The Basics of Flavor Blending

Flavor blending really couldn’t be simpler. It just means that you’re mixing two or more e-liquids together to create a new flavor combination. While flavor blending is simple in practice, it does still require that you know a thing or two about flavor profiles.

Here’s how you do it: First, you take an empty bottle of e-liquid. Either you can purchase empty juice bottles, or you can simply save old bottles and wash them out thoroughly. Now, you take a couple of pre-made e-liquids that you’ve recently purchased. You pour a little bit of each e-liquid into the empty bottle. Then, you close the bottle and shake it up for about thirty seconds. Voila! You’ve just made a flavor blend.

While flavor blending is about as easy as it gets, there are still some rules to keep in mind so that you end up with the best e-liquid possible. We’ll get to those in a minute.

Can Flavor Blending be Done with Salt Nic E-Liquids?

Flavor blending can be done with both freebas and salt-based nicotine e-liquids. As long as you don’t combine two different types of nicotine, you’re all good.

You see, salt nic and freebase nic require two different vaping configurations in order to vape properly. While salt nic e-liquid operates best in low-wattage MTL pod systems, freebase only really works with a traditional high-wattage sub-ohm setup. So, mixing the two types together will leave you feeling rather disappointed.

Rules of Flavor Blending for Beginners

Yes, there are three unspoken rules you must follow:

Rule #1: Don’t Start Out with Huge Batches

When you first get into flavor blending, you might feel the urge to make a massive batch of a new flavor profile. We understand. However, it’s best to stick to small batches for a while.

Why? Because you’re still new at learning how to create flavor profiles, so there’s a good chance you’ll make some duds from time to time. It’s better to throw out a small batch of e-liquid than 120 milliliters of vape juice that you spent good money on.

Rule #2: Go with Familiar Flavor Profiles

When you’re first starting out, try to create flavor profiles that you already know work well together. For instance, you might want to just stick to fruits for a while since fruits rarely clash with each other. As time goes on, you’ll be able to get more adventurous.

Rule #3: Stick to One VG/PG Ratio

We don’t recommend combining VG/PG ratios. If one e-liquid has an 80/20 mix, use another liquid that has the same. Mixing ratios can lead to disappointing results as they produce different vaping effects.

This guide will have you blending flavors like an e-juice pro. Before long, you’ll be whipping up dreamy, complex flavor creations that provide you with the most satisfying vapes that you’ve ever had. Happy flavor blending!
