A Quick Guide to Embracing Wintertime Vaping

Posted by David on

Since we are only a month away now from the winter season, it’s time once again for vapers to adjust how they vape during those extremely cold months. And, if you’re someone who spends a good deal of time vaping outdoors, the winter season can make it very hard to enjoy a satisfying experience. However, there are some things that you can do to make the most of your wintertime vaping sessions.

Believe it or not, cold weather affects many aspects of our vaping experience. In fact, freezing temperatures can actually make it nearly impossible to enjoy a good vape if you don’t make the proper adjustments to your setup. Fortunately, there are some simple things that you can do in order to embrace the winter season while you hit your mod.

Method #1: Experiment with Different Drip Tip Materials

If you’re using a metal drip tip, you might want to consider investing in a second one for the cold weather. As we all know, metal absorbs cold very, very well. This means that you’re going to be constantly exposing your lips to an extremely cold material, potentially causing them to become chapped and irritated. Besides, that cold sensation against the mouth just isn’t pleasant.

There are plenty of drip tip materials out there that won’t make your lips feel frosty during the wintertime. Glass and plastic drip tips are especially popular during this time of year.

Method #2: Readjust Your VG/PG Ratio

You might be surprised to learn that cold weather seriously alters the way in which your vape juice hits you. E-liquid is composed of lots of molecules that each have different freezing points. The flavor molecules in your vape juice are composed of lots of water, meaning that they have a tendency to freeze when exposed to cold air. However, vegetable glycerin and propylene glycol are both derived from alcohol, meaning that they won’t freeze.

That’s why e-juice becomes much thicker when it’s cold. As a result, your clouds will be larger and denser while your throat hit will be far less pronounced. If you tend to gravitate toward high PG levels, make sure that you increase your amount during the winter season.

Method #3: Try Out Some Seasonal Flavors

Whether you love or hate the winter season, you can’t deny that there are some truly tasty treats that are abundant during this time of year. If you want to really embrace your wintertime vaping sessions, opt for e-liquid flavors that are inspired by delectable seasonal tastes like eggnog, peppermint mocha and bold tobacco.

Method #4: Keep Your Hardware Out of the Cold

It is crucial that you keep your batteries and your vaping device indoors during the cold winter months. Freezing temperatures can cause your mod to malfunction. Plus, cold temperatures can cause your batteries to work very poorly.

In order for your batteries to power your device, the electrons that are in the batteries must quickly move in order to reach the connections. However, when the weather is cold, these electrons like to take their time. As a result, your batteries work harder to give your device power, causing them to die out quickly.

Never leave your hardware in a car overnight during the winter season. And, always keep your hardware away from drafty areas in your home.
