5 Key CBD Storage Tips

Posted by David on

If there’s one thing that we know about being a CBD enthusiast, it’s that you have to take the right amount of time to make sure that what you’re buying is high in quality, free of impurities and made using a reputable extraction method. But, once you buy that CBD product for daily use, there’s something else that you have to think about, and it’s how you’re going to store it.

Storage is Key

The way in which you store your CBD can have a lot to do with how much you get out of it. CBD that’s been created using high-quality practices is relatively stable chemically speaking, but there are some major mistake you can make when storing it that can render it useless due to a decrease in potency.

Improper storage can cause the compounds to break down prematurely, which means that you won’t be getting the hemp experience that you want. So, how do you prevent this from happening? Luckily for you, we’ve got all of the tips that you need.

Tip #1: Cool, Dark Places are the Way to Go

The rule of thumb when it comes to storing CBD is that cool, dark places are the way to go. CBD doesn’t like extremes in its environment, such as bright lights or hot temperatures. Cool and dark places maintain a consistent environment that keeps the compounds in CBD nice and stable. Consider a closet, a cabinet or a drawer in your dresser as ideal spots for storing your hemp goods.

Tip #2: Don’t Leave Your CBD Outside

Like we said, CBD doesn’t like extremes, or drastic changes. That’s why leaving your CBD outdoors is never a good idea, regardless of what type of product it is. We know that many hemp enthusiasts like to keep a topical or a vape in their car so that they don’t have to remember to bring it with them when they go out for the day. However, your car is exposed to lots of extreme temperature changes, as well as changes in sun exposure. That’s why it’s better to keep your CBD indoors at all times.

Tip #3: Only Buy as Much as Needed

No matter how well you store your CBD, if you’re buying more than you’ll actually use up within a certain period of time, you’re going to end up with CBD that’s lost its potency. All CBD has a shelf life, and most hemp goods last for about two years before they break down on a chemical level. So, an important part of storage is knowing how much to buy for an allotted timeframe, so that you don’t end up wasting it because you weren’t able to use it before its expiration date arrived.

Tip #4: Keep Your CBD in its Original Packaging

We always suggest keeping your CBD products in their original packaging, for two reasons. One is that this allows you to keep track of when you bought the CBD so that you’ll know when the expiration date is approaching. The other reason is because CBD is often sold in specific types of containers that prevent oxidization from occurring prematurely. For instance, some CBD goods are sold in amber glass bottles that help prevent too much light from entering the formula and disrupting the compounds.

Tip #5: Don’t Store Your CBD in the Bathroom

We don’t recommend keeping your CBD in a bathroom. That’s because your bathroom is prone to extreme changes in temperature and humidity due to regular use of the shower or bath. This constantly changing environment can destabilize your hemp products. So, keep your CBD goods in a room that doesn’t vary much in terms of temperature or humidity so that it can last for a long time.

Enjoy that Properly Store CBD Product Even More

Storing your CBD properly is crucial if you want to continue to enjoy your hemp routine on a daily basis. Failing to store your CBD properly can lead to a rapid reduce in potency which means that your hemp product can no longer supply you with ample amounts of compounds that you are trying to consume.
