How Much Vape Juice Per Day? Typical Use by Device and How Long Each Bottle Lasts

How much vape juice you go through in a day depends mostly on your device. A small pod kit might use a couple of milliliters, while a high-wattage sub-ohm tank can use ten times that. This guide gives typical daily ranges for each kind of device, shows how long each bottle size lasts, and explains how to work out your own number so you can pick the right size.

Typical vape juice use per day, by device

These are rough ranges based on what vapers commonly report. Your own use can be higher or lower.

Device Typical use per day Usual e-liquid
Pod kits and small low-power devices About 1 to 4ml Nic salt or 50/50 freebase
Mouth-to-lung (MTL) tanks About 2 to 6ml Freebase, 50/50 or higher PG
Sub-ohm tanks (roughly 40 to 80 watts) About 8 to 20ml Freebase, 25/75 or Max VG
High-wattage tanks and rebuildables About 15 to 35ml or more Freebase, Max VG

The big jump between pod kits and sub-ohm tanks is normal. Sub-ohm devices vaporize much more liquid per puff, which is also why they are used with lower nicotine strengths. See nic salt vs freebase for how device type and nicotine form go together.

What changes how much you use

  • Wattage and coil resistance: more power and lower-resistance coils vaporize more liquid with every puff.
  • Airflow and puff style: wide-open airflow and long direct-to-lung puffs use far more than tight mouth-to-lung puffs.
  • Nicotine strength: at a lower strength many vapers take more or longer puffs, so they go through more liquid. Our nicotine strength guide covers matching strength to your device.
  • PG/VG mix: thicker, high-VG juice is made for sub-ohm tanks, which use more liquid overall. See PG vs VG.
  • Leaks and old coils: a leaking tank or a worn coil can waste liquid. If your use suddenly goes up, check the tank and try a fresh coil.

How to work out your own daily use

  1. Start a new bottle and write down the date.
  2. Vape as you normally would. Refill only from that bottle.
  3. When it runs out, divide the bottle size by the number of days. A 70ml bottle that lasts 10 days means about 7ml a day.

Tank markings work too: if you refill a 2ml pod twice a day, you are using about 4ml a day. Once you know your number, the chart below shows which size fits.

How long does a bottle of vape juice last?

Approximate days per bottle at three common usage levels:

Bottle size 3ml a day (pod / MTL) 10ml a day (sub-ohm) 20ml a day (heavy sub-ohm)
32ml About 10 days About 3 days About 1.5 days
70ml About 3 weeks About 1 week About 3 to 4 days
125ml About 6 weeks About 12 days About 6 days
260ml About 12 weeks About 3.5 weeks About 2 weeks
500ml About 5.5 months About 7 weeks About 3.5 weeks
1000ml About 11 months About 3 months About 7 weeks

Every flavor in our e-liquid line comes in all six sizes, and so does our Salt eJuice. For the heaviest users we also make a half gallon and a gallon.

Choosing a bottle size

Trying a new flavor? Start small.

A 32ml or 70ml bottle lets you try a flavor without committing to a big bottle. To try several at once, a sample pack gives you five flavors: the 32ml five-bottle pack suits pod and MTL users, and the 70ml and 125ml packs or the 260ml and 500ml packs suit sub-ohm users.

Found your favorite? Go bigger.

Larger bottles cost less per milliliter, so once you know what you like, a 260ml, 500ml or 1000ml bottle saves the most. A good rule of thumb is a size you will finish within a few months.

Storing larger bottles

  • Keep bottles tightly capped in a cool, dark place, away from heat and sunlight.
  • With a large bottle, fill a smaller bottle for everyday use and keep the big one closed, so it is opened and exposed to air less often.
  • Flavor can change slowly over time, which is one more reason to choose a size you will finish within a few months.
  • Always keep e-liquid in its childproof-capped bottle, out of reach of children and pets.

Vape juice per day FAQ

How long does a 30ml bottle of vape juice last?

For a pod kit at around 3ml a day, roughly 10 days. In a sub-ohm tank at around 10ml a day, about 3 days. Our smallest bottle is 32ml, which lasts slightly longer.

Do nic salt users go through less juice?

Usually, yes. Nic salt is used in small, low-power pod devices that vaporize less liquid per puff, so a bottle typically lasts much longer than the same size used in a sub-ohm tank.

Why am I suddenly using more juice than usual?

Common causes are a leaking tank or pod, a higher wattage setting, more open airflow, or a lower nicotine strength. Check for leaks and try a fresh coil first.

Is it cheaper to buy bigger bottles?

Yes. The price per milliliter drops as the bottle size goes up, so larger sizes are the better value for a flavor you already know you like.

Keep e-liquid in its childproof-capped bottle and away from children and pets. For adults 21+. Nicotine is an addictive chemical.
